About UGAASM

The Uganda Association of Artisanal & Small‑Scale Miners (UGAASM) unites 158 associations across all five mining regions. Since 2018, we've driven formalization, policy advocacy, land acquisition and capacity building to empower local miners.

UGAASM is the umbrella body for 158 artisanal & small‑scale miners' associations, representing Western, Northern, Karamoja, Eastern & Central regions.

We're active in all five officially recognized mining regions: Western, Northern, Karamoja, Eastern and Central.

We've secured 36 km² for Mubende & Bahwezu miners, had 50%+ of our ASM policy adopted in the 2022 Act, and delivered licensing, safety & gender‐inclusion training.
